I know the bond with your parents became strong through all the struggles you endured. I can only imagine how your view of the world has been broadened and you can understand those who are feeling mistreated and rejected as you saw this in the children your parents ministered to. I suspect there's a book within you waiting to be birthed and I anticipate it will bring inspiration to many. For hundreds of months in a row I paid hundreds more in rent than I qualified for in a mortgage. Finally ended up paying cash for a foreclosure out in the country. Yeah the former residents had taken the well pump with them when they evacuated, but that was the worst of it. So Dave Ramsey should be proud of me. Old enough to retire and I've never in my life bought anything on monthly payments--could never afford to.Daniel Buckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02600146498880358592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5118517190489901866.post-88723564521188145722020-07-02T14:00:45.965+03:002020-07-02T14:00:45.965+03:00As an old (77) college English teacher, having rea...As an old (77) college English teacher, having read (and graded) so many thousands of pieces of writing, it is a JOY when I read a gifted “voice”. God has gifted you with a voice that the reader “feels” . . . Of course, the writer and reader bring equal parts to the printed page, so it helps that your experiences translate to similar experiences in our family’s life.

One word of encouragement from a senior couple . . . My wife and I now can “look back”, and we see “the good the Lord worked” in our lives from some of our WHY? experiences. Thus, I can confidently tell you that while you can know what it is right now, you will find your new self. It will be a hybrid, but it will be beautiful. And you have lots of years left, and I am also extremely confident that you will be back in Africa. If nothing else, I pray for you and your kids that you have a chance to go back and close that chapter properly. Those kinds of exits leave lasting gaping holes, if they are not sewn up with closure.

A mentor of mine says that there is never transformation without deconstruction. And deconstruction is messy and painful. But once the caterpillar dissolves and changes, the butterfly that emerges is amazing. Your butterfly is metamorphosing. I pray you can be patient with yourself as it happens. As someone on the other side of that painful journey, I hear you, and I validate your pain, and I stand in the gap of hope for a beautiful future.
